The National Service of Natural Areas Protected by the State (SERNANP) is a specialized public body under the Ministry of Environment, responsible for the management and conservation of the National System of Protected Natural Areas (SINANPE). With its headquarters in Lima, it carries out its work in coordination with regional and local governments and owners of property recognized as private conservation areas.

MISSION

To run Peru’s system of protected areas from a participative, integrated, ecosystem perspective, with the goal of sustainably managing their biodiversity and ecosystem services.

VISION

Society values the environmental, cultural, social and economic benefits which it receives from representative ecosystems present in protected areas and contributes actively to their conservation.
